about

MJ.VISUAL was founded in 2000 when Martine Jackson decided to commercialise her beaded artworks which formed the basis of her honours year thesis at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT.

MJ.VISUAL is a result of Jackson’s passion for combining traditional African beadwork with contemporary graphic design as well as creating a platform for less privileged women to reveal their amazing artistic skills.

All the unique artworks and products are made with a new and fresh approach. The beaded collection is handmade by the women and MJ.VISUAL take an active role in teaching new skills and empowering them.

MJ.VISUAL has provided jobs for these ladies that they love doing, and a platform has been created to showcase their traditional talents in the commercial marketplace both locally and abroad.

The work seen on the website is a selection of commercial and fine-art works. All beadwork has been conceptualized and designed by Jackson and hand-beaded by the MJ.VISUAL team. Graphic and ceramic works have been created exclusively by Jackson.

PROCEEDS FROM MJ.VISUAL GO TO THE MONKEYBIZ BEAD PROJECT.
